so, I’ve decided that…
it’s not worth going to washed out and small black and pictureplane tonight, because it’s later than i thought, and more expensive at the door than i thought. they double the price on the night of…and I have to save for wondercon, other gigs, and buying new records and stuff at thrift stores.
i was going to go mostly because I haven’t been to rickshaw stop, and I haven’t been to a full gig in a while.
but there are other times, such as tune-yards on 5/27, that I will be able to go.
I like chillwave enough but i guess not enough to drag me out to hear it live. no wonder when Ernest Greene had difficulties trying to transmit his sound from out of the bedroom. i guess it doesn’t really work, or isn’t very spectacular on a live note. if I’m going to see it live, then it will most likely be at a festival, and chances are that one of these three bands will play at pitchfork.

April 15th-Thom Yorke in Atoms For Peace and Flying Lotus at the Fox Theater
April 16th-Strip Mall Seizures at 21 Grand
April 21st-Camera Obscura and Best Coast at the GAMH ???
April 23 and maybe 22 or 24-Yo La Tengo at the Fillmore
(maybe something in between—such as Los Campesinos, The Hold Steady, Okkervil River, or Jakob Dylan with Neko Case)
May 26-The National (Maybe?) at the Fox
May 27-TuneYards at Rickshaw Stop
June 1st-The XX at the GAMH
JOANNA NEWSOM IS COMING TO THE WEST IN AUGUST! AND what I might do, if I’m lucky, is follow her down the west coast. hang out in vancouver, seattle, portland, sf, and la for her shows. if possible.
